Venture Scouts are aged 15-17. Ventures meet regularly to prepare for expeditions, camps and their next outdoor challenge.
The real adventure is in the outdoors – mountain hiking, water-based activities, mini-expeditions, camps & expeditions from one night to ten nights in length, community service projects, hostel stays, and sometimes overseas trips. Venture Scouts love the social aspect of Scouting. National events for Ventures include Scout Fest, Ventact, Mountain Havoc, Venture Challenge and also Jamborees (national and international camps).
There are also events run by the Scout County and Scout Province.
Rovers involved will set a meeting schedule that suits their aims (and study/work constraints). At meetings they will improve their Scouting skills like hill-walking, camping, knots, first aid, and prepare for their next adventure. Rovers plan and do outdoor adventures – hillwalking, water-based activities, social outings, camps of any length, community service projects and events, helping with younger Scout sections, hostel visits, meeting up with other Rovers, and overseas trips.
National events for Rovers include the Explorer Belt, Rover Chill, Mountain Moot, Jamborees (national and international camps) and Rover Moots. There are also events run by the Scout County and Scout Province and lots of opportunity to contribute at national level on various teams.
We are here to share our love of the outdoors and help instil a sense of civic duty in our young people. Some Scouters have been involved in Scouting since childhood. Some have only just joined having had no previous Scouting background.
Scouters are all Garda Vetted and trained in Child Protection issues.
Scouting Ireland is committed to SCOUTING SAFELY at all ages.
